Anatoly Karpov who runs for FIDE presidency has not presented his programme yet

As stated by Georgios Markopoulos, Vice-President of the FIDE (International Chess Federation), Anatoly Karpov, the 12th World Chess Champion, will have to present to the session of the FIDE's commission on ethics the proofs of the corruption facts in the FIDE, about which he said in his interview to mass media.

As reported earlier, President of Kalmykia and President of the FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov decided to sue Anatoly Karpov in the context of his statements about corruption in the FIDE, which, according to the President, "discredit the activities" of the Federation.

In his interview to the "Gazeta.Ru" (reprinted by "Izvestia Kalmykii" on June 11) Vice-President of the FIDE Georgios Markopoulos explained that the point is "in a collective application of the members of the Presidential Council and members of the FIDE to the FIDE's commission on ethics, to the Moscow Court at the residence of the Champion and to the international court in the registration place of the FIDE."

According to the FIDE's Vice-President, for the 15 years that Kirsan Ilyumzhinov holds the post, not a single hundred dollars remained unaccounted.

As reported by the newspaper "Argumenty Nedeli", Karpov did not receive any summons from the court. "I'm not sure that any suits have been filed at all," he said. "It seems to me that it's just a great lie purged into the ears of the public just to distract attention from real charges." At all that, the 12th World Champion is not to prove his legitimacy of being nominated as a candidate for the President of the FIDE.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
