One of Tsechoev brothers released in Ingushetia

In Ingushetia, the session of the Malgobek City Court on the case of Tsechoev brothers, detained for administrative violations, due to take place on June 17, was reappointed for today. Now the case is given to Judge Kureish Kokurkhaev, who will consider it. Earlier, court sessions were held without the presence of brothers.

On June 15, a lawyer was let to the detainees. On June 17, Adam Tsechoev was let free, while his brother Beslan saw charges of illegal arms and explosives handling.

Let us remind you that during several days after detention a lawyer was not admitted to the brothers, but an ambulance was twice called to Beslan Tsechoev, who was in critical condition after torture with electric current and beatings.

The attention of the republic's leadership and Ombudsman in Ingushetia was attracted to the case only after rights defender Liudmila Alekseeva, head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, called President Evkurov.

Ruslan Albakov-Myarshkhi, an employee of the Ombudsman's office, was also admitted to the detainees together with his boss.

"On June 14, the Ombudsman and I went to the Malgobek OVD. We were given a chance to meet Tsechoev brothers; we fixed everything and made photos. Then, we were told at the GUVD that the brothers had been detained by the magistrate judge for administrative offences. We are keeping our attentive eye on further events with the Tsechoevs," Mr Albakov-Myarshkhi said and added that, judging by the brother's appearance, "they'd got quite a lot of it."

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
