Beslan holds day of silence in memory of terror act victims in School No. 1
Yesterday, on September 2, a traditional day of silence was held in Beslan: during the whole day people kept coming to School No. 1 and memorial cemetery in "City of Angels" to pay tribute of memory to victims of the terror act in September 2004.
Yesterday, a cross was installed and blessed in the yard of School No. 1 in Beslan, where a temple will be built; the procession was headed by Father Theophan, Archbishop of Vladikavkaz and Stavropol. The main mourning events will take place today, on September 3.
Now, six years after the tragedy, many victims still cannot talk to journalists - it is too hard for them. Thus, Fatima Keleskhaeva lost her daughter of 14, who for the first time went to this school right on September 1, 2004.
"She learned in the village; however, they introduced only profile training there, I wanted to give the best to her, since there were more opportunities here," Fatima told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "It'd have been better if she had not seen this school at all, although she was a perfect pupil; she liked to study and read. People say that time cures, but I feel harder and harder with every year."
"The government shall respond for everything," the woman is sure. "I believe that if they had paid more attention, if more of them had come here on those three days, the outcome would have been quite different. Nobody will ever bring me around."
In the evening on August 2, under the offer of the committee "Beslan Mothers", a concert-requiem "Memory of the Heart" took place near the Beslan Palace of Culture. Its programme included songs and poems devoted to the Beslan tragedy performed by well-known musical companies and actors of the republic. Today, the mourning actions in Beslan will continue.
