South Osetian State Security Committee head: special unit of Georgian Security Ministry troops did be in conflict zone

As head of the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Osetia Colonel Oleg Alborov declared, the fact that a special unit of Georgian Security Ministry troops entered the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone on December 11 is true. This unit stationed its post in the village of Medzhvriskhevi, Georgia's Oriysky district.

Colonel Oleg Alborov had a telephone conversation with head of the Goriysky district security department Colonel Kalandadze and head of the Goriysky district criminal police department Chokheli. They said the Georgian Security Ministry conducted a "pre-concerted" operation to fight against smuggling and drug trafficking.

7 trucks with wheat being transported to Georgia without appropriate documents have been detained during the operation. At 14:00, the operation was completed, and the special unit was withdrawn from the conflict zone. Colonel Alborov confirmed that this operation had not been coordinated with South Osetian authorities.
