In Dagestan, inspectors recognize father-in-law of pregnant woman killed in special operation as victim

The investigation has recognized Mamatkhan Baisultanov, a resident of Khasavyurt, whose pregnant daughter-in-law was killed and whose son was wounded during a special operation in 2006, to be a victim. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Baisultanov himself; however, the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) said they knew nothing about the ruling.

As reported by Mamatkhan Baisultanov, the ruling on recognizing him to be a victim was passed by Rustam Baulov, senior investigator of the first investigatory division of the MIA of Dagestan on direct order of Kasumbek Amirbekov, head of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF for Dagestan.

"I believe that the guilt for the crime is on Abidin Karchigaev, Deputy Interior Minister of Dagestan, who commanded the special operation, and his subordinates, who were shooting at my daughter-in-law and my son. The fact that the actions of these persons were illegal is confirmed by the verdict of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, which has entered into force. I estimate my material damage in the amount of 592,712 roubles; and my grief and mental sufferings in connection with the death of my close relatives - in the amount of 2 million roubles," said Mamatkhan Baisultanov.

He says that he has no trust in the staff of the investigatory committee. "I've been there several times; they always promise something to me; but in reality nothing is being done," said Mamatkhan Baisultanov.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the ICRF that they knew nothing about the ruling; the on duty officer of the Dagestani MIA also said that he had no information.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
