Action "Safe Internet for Veterans" held in Rostov-on-Don

Within the project "Grandmother Online", Rostov-on-Don hosts the action "Safe Internet for Veterans" with the task to teach elderly people to computer skills.

"We decided to launch the experiment, because new technologies are rapidly penetrating our life; and elderly people often cannot catch up with them. We decided to make use of this emotional way - with the help of children as teachers - to destroy the barrier, which as if makes elderly people outdated. This dialogue of generations is beneficial for younger guys as well. They become teachers and feel themselves helpful," Elena Ostrivnaya, head of the studio, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Every veteran has his or her young tutor. Thus, Christian Dornes, who is seven, is helping Margarita Dmitrievna. Christian believes that with the help of PCs veterans learn a lot of new things; while Margarita Dmitrievna, a widow of the World War II veteran, says she wants to keep pace with the time.

All the veterans are invited to communicate in their community launched on the website of the Ministry of General and Vocational Education of the Rostov Region.

On the last day of studies, according to Elena Ostrivnaya, young boys will arrange a concert for veterans and present them with postcards created by using computer graphics.
