The jury on the case of Sviridov's murder declined the motion of challenge to a juryman and state prosecutor entered by Cherkesov

During trial on the criminal case of murder of football fan Yegor Sviridov in Moscow city court on September, 7, defendant Aslan Cherkesov challenged juryman number two and state prosecutor Maria Semenenko. The challenge was declined. Besides, two witnesses were interrogated during the session.

It should be reminded that Yegor Sviridov was killed at night of December, 6, 2010, during a mass scuffle in Kronstadt boulevard of Moscow. Native of Nalchik Aslan Cherkesov and natives of Chechnya and Dagestan Akai Akaev, Arthur Arsibiev, Hasan Ibragimov, Nariman Ismailov, Ramazan Adarbiev are in the dock.

Cherkesov based his challenge to the juryman and state prosecutor on the fact that they had been communicating with each other during two sessions running which was prohibited by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. The attorneys supported Cherkesov but the prosecuting party objected.

It took the judge about forty minutes to solve the question in the decision room. The challenge was declined as groundless. In reply to the judge's question about his communication with state prosecutor the juryman answered that he had just greeted those present out of courtesy.
