This year, OMON of Kabardino-Balkaria confiscated 43 bombs and 200 kg of explosives

In 2011, the fighters of OMON (riot police) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Kabardino-Balkaria confiscated nearly 200 kg of explosives and 43 various explosive devices. This was announced today by the MIA's press office.

The announcement of the figure was dated to October 3, when Russia marks the formation day of riot police units formerly known as OMON (special militia regiments).

"From the start of this year, the police units have confiscated - during their raids over the territory of the republic - more than 193 kg of explosives and 43 explosive devices," says the website.

Besides, plenty of arms and ammunition were destroyed and neutralized. "During 85 special operations, the fighters of the regiment detained 65 criminal suspects and confiscated over 1300 rounds of ammunition and 30 weapons," said the press office and added that 30 fighters of the regiment were rewarded for operations in 2011.
