Explosion of utility gas in Baksan causes fire and kills people

As reported by a source from the Investigatory Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) the reason of the tragedy in the city of Baksan on January 14, when a fire killed a woman and two small children, was an explosion of household gas.

Let us remind you that two other small girls managed to escape from the fire that burst out at about 6:00 p.m. in a private house in Revolutsionnaya Street.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased woman left her children alone at home and went to the store.

"When she returned, she felt the smell of gas and took two children out into the yard; when she got in to pick the two remaining children, an explosion occurred and killed the woman and two boys aged four; one of them was a neighbours' son," said the source.

When the fire was extinguished, a melted pot was found on the stove, and the gas oven was turned on.
