Azerbaijan names missing sailors from tanker "Edirne"

The State Maritime Administration of Azerbaijan (SMAA) has announced the names of three crew members of the tanker "Edirne", which were regarded missing after the vessel had sunk.

Let us remind you that the tanker "Edirne" sank on January 15 in the Adriatic Sea, three miles from the Albanian port of Durres after an explosion. According to the preliminary version, the explosion was caused by the gas accumulated in the tanks of the vessel.

As reported by the SMAA, out of 15 crew members on board, six were citizens of Georgia, four - of Azerbaijan, three - of Turkey and two - of Ukraine. 12 crew members were rescued and are in the hospital in Durres.

Three sailors are still considered missing, namely: Khayam Mamedov, the captain, a citizen of Azerbaijan; and two citizens of Georgia - boatswain Melkaz Lazishvili and sailor Beka Urushadze.

Earlier, it was reported that the tanker was sailing under the flag of Sierra Leone.
