Kabardino-Balkaria: body of deceased woman-climber from Ukraine found

On Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of 4700 meters above sea level, the rescuers found the body of Ukrainian climber Maria Khitrikova. This was reported by Murat Apazhikhov, Spokesman of the Chief Directorate of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) in Kabardino-Balkaria. Maria Khitrikova was 21 years old.

On March 2, the group of climbers from Ukraine lost its way in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria. The climbers reported that they lost their way, and after that the signal was lost. Among the missing persons were the woman-climber from Dnepropetrovsk and two athletes from Kharkov.

Above the altitude of 4700 meters above sea level, the rescuers found a backpack; the search for the third member of the group is underway; the rescue operations involve 35 persons.

"The rescuers are working in five teams at a height of 4000-4800 meters above sea level on the south-eastern slope of Mount Elbrus," the "Interfax" quotes Davydov as saying.

"Starting from 7:00 a.m. of Monday, the rescuers renewed the search for Dennis Lisov, the 39-year-old resident of Kharkov, the third missing climber," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Murat Apazhikhov as saying. "The search is being complicated by bad weather conditions: strong winds and almost zero visibility."
