North Ossetia starts trial against suspect of committing terror act on Vladikavkaz marketplace

On Monday, the Supreme Court (SC) of North Ossetia began the trial on the criminal case against Suleiman Khashagulgov, the suspected member of the criminal group that organized the terror act on the central market in Vladikavkaz on September 9, 2010.

On September 9, 2010, a suicide bomber in a car "Volga" actuated a powerful homemade bomb at the entrance to the Central market of Vladikavkaz. Apart from the suicide bomber, the terror act took 19 human lives: 14 persons died in place, and other 5 persons died later. The total number of victims exceeded 190 persons.

On February 9, 2012, the criminal case against Suleiman Khashagulgov was brought to the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

The press service of the Republic's SC has announced that court hearings on the case against Suleiman Khashagulgov would be held in a special regime and behind closed doors, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reports.

"Journalists will not be allowed to pronouncement of the verdict, since it was the wish of the defendant and his side," the "Interfax" quotes the Spokesman as saying.
