During week of February 27-March 4, 18 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 18 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in the period from February 27 to March 4: 17 persons were killed and 1 wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot", based on their own materials and information from other public sources.

The number of the deceased persons includes 5 law enforcement officers from Dagestan. Besides, 7 civilians were killed (6 in Dagestan, and 1 in North Ossetia), a woman was wounded in Dagestan. 5 suspected militants were killed (3 in Dagestan and 2 in Ingushetia).

Disappearances of at least four persons took place during the week.

Rashidat Khalidova, a resident of the village of Chontaul of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan reported on disappearance of a 28-year-old Akav Khalidov, her husband, which occurred on February 29. Akav Khalidov is a strictly practicing Muslim; he has been registered at the police station, and he has a minor child.

On March 1, Abdurakhman Djakaev, a resident of the village of Mutsalaul of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, was driven by armed men in camouflage to some unknown destination. This was reported by his mother Patimat Djakaeva. According to her, without presenting any documents and without witnesses, the unidentified men went to the kitchen, soon returned and said that they found a pistol. After that they left and forced Abdurakhman Djakaev to go with them.

Also on March 1, Rasul Abdulkarimov, another resident of the village of Mutsalaul, was driven by armed men in camouflage to some unknown destination. This was reported by his sister Asiyat Abdulkarimova.

On March 2, Rasul Abdulkarimov was released from the police station; Abdurakhman Djakaev is still being kept at the Khasavyurt ROVD. This was reported by the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova.

Furthermore, on this week, the kidnapping of Murat Kunashev, a resident of the town of Nartkaly on Kabardino-Balkaria committed on February 22, was reported. According to him, he was kidnapped by unidentified armed men, who were interested in his acquaintance with militants. They tortured him and forced him to sign some documents, and only after that they released him.
