Armenia refuses to participate in song contest "Eurovision-2012" in Baku
Armenia refused to participate in the song contest "Eurovision-2012", which will be held in Baku in May. Today, the Armenian Public Television has officially informed the European Broadcasting Union of its decision. This is declared by the statement published on the official website of the song contest.
"We are really disappointed with the decision of the Armenian broadcaster to refuse participation in the "Eurovision" this year," said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the song contest on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union.
He has added that despite the efforts of the European Broadcasting Union to ensure the participation of the Armenian delegation in the song contest this year, the reasons not depending on it led to that decision, the "NEWS.am" reports.
As a result of the Armenia's refusal, 42 countries will participate in the song contest. 18 countries will be presented in each semi-final, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
