Large units of power structures shifted to Dagestan from Chechnya

A large group of power structures was shifted from a military base Khankala located in Grozny to neighbouring Dagestan. According to a source from the Chechen law enforcement agencies, the transfer of internal troops and staff members of other power agencies to the republic is associated with a significant complication of the situation in Dagestan in recent months.

"The transfer of units of the federal power forces from Chechnya to Dagestan is associated with a significant deterioration in the overall situation in the republic. In accordance with the decision of the top-ranking officials of the Russian Ministry of internal Affairs (MIA), Dagestan will establish Temporary operational grouping of agencies and units of the MIA (TOGAU), following the example of how it had been made in Chechnya. The grouping will be led by Police Colonel Oleg Kizhaev," said the representative of the power structures of the republic.

According to the source, in total, more than 20,000 power agents were transferred from Chechnya to Dagestan.

Local residents also report on large columns of armoured vehicles and trucks with soldiers, who were moving in the direction of Dagestan during the day of March 17. "Since the early 2000s, we have not seen such amount of simultaneously moving vehicles and soldiers," says Sultan Magomadov, a resident of the Gudermes District of Chechnya. "The columns were moving non-stop, and they stretched for kilometres. However, earlier they were entering our republic, and now they were moving to direction of Dagestan."
