MIA: persons detained in the course of storming Elista Mayoralty are at large

After drawing up protocols on administrative offences, the police have released the four persons detained at the storming of the Mayoralty of Elista. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Elvira Namrueva, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Kalmykia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 24 supporters of the unapproved City Manager of Elista Arthur Dordjiev blocked the building of the Elista Mayoralty and tried to seize it by storm. Police detained several of the most active participants of the storm; and the Mayoralty building was cordoned off by policemen.

"The four April 24 detainees were released on the same day after drawing up protocols on their administrative offences," Elvira Namrueva said today.

"In the morning on April 24 Arthur Dordjiev was not let into the Mayoralty. The foyer was captured by young and strong guys, trained in wrestling and martial arts and headed by their coaches. 'The Mayoralty is not working because of emergency,' this formulation was devised by one of the young guys. Visitors - women and men - turned around and went away. The police did not intervene. Those tough guys also would not let me and my colleagues-journalists into the Mayoralty," said Valery Badmaev, an eyewitness and the editor-in-chief of the "Today's Kalmykia".

According to his story, closer to the lunchtime, Arthur Dordjiev's supporters made an attempt to break into the building and let Mr Dordjiev in. "The attempt failed; and the policemen, initially passively watching, suddenly decided to interfere: they dispersed the attackers and took several of them to the Elista UVD (Interior Department)," said Badmaev.
