In Volgograd, policeman is suspected of abusing detainee

A criminal case has been opened in Volgograd against a company commander of the patrol and post service of the UVD (Department of Interior), who is suspected of abusing a detainee.

According to investigators, on March 6, while on duty, the policeman received a message about a scuffle in one of the shops of the Krasnooktiabrskiy District of the city. Arriving to the place, the policeman handcuffed one of the participants of the conflict, the investigators assert.

"Then he stepped on the head of the man and forced him in that position for some time, causing pain to the victim. Ignoring the cries of the detainee, he then wrapped a scarf around his neck and began choking him until the victim began suffocating," said Natalia Kunitskaya, Senior Assistant to the head of the Volgograd regional Department of the ICRF.

The criminal case was opened under points "a" and "b", Part 3, Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (abuse of power by using violence and special means).

A case was initiated also against the 25-year-old resident of Volgograd, who suffered from the policeman. He is accused of publicly insulting a state official in performance of his duties, said Anton Kornaukhov, the deputy head of the press service of the above UVD.

The suspected policeman's name is Sergey Bodreiko, the News Agency "Height 101" adds.

Senior Sergeant Sergey Bodreiko took his service in interior bodies since 2006; and by the time of the incident he had no service penalties. On April 26 he left the police on his own will, the portal "V1" reports.
