Oppositional candidates ask Police of Armenia to delete 288 deceased people from voters' list

The election offices of candidates for Deputies from the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) from two majority constituencies have addressed the police asking to update the voters' list, in particular, to delete from them the names of 288 people no longer alive.

Let us remind you that on May 6 Armenia will hold elections to the National Assembly. On March 28, the official website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia posted the voters' list. On April 27, the Police of Armenia reported that the electoral register lists 2,482,000 238 voters.

The applications addressed to Ovanes Kocharyan, the head of the passport and visa department of the Police of Armenia by the confidants of the candidates in the majority constituencies Nos. 4 and 12 from the oppositional ANC - Aram Manukyan and Tigran Ter-Petrosyan, respectively, - state that the voters' lists on these constituencies contain 150 and 138 deceased voters, accordingly.

In this context, the candidates' offices ask the Police to take appropriate steps to delete those names from the voters' lists.

To date, the above department of the Police of Armenian has not reacted to the applications, citing the non-working days, which fall in Armenia on April 29 and 30 and 1 May.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote about problems with voters' list in Armenia. Thus, on March 28, the Police confirmed the data of the oppositional press that the voters' list at one of the constituencies contained 562 voters, one after another - with the same name - Lusine. The Police said that the technical error was corrected.

Also, the late President of the National Academy of Sciences Fadey Sargsyan was still on the list. The Police have also recognized the fact of registration of 229 people from different families at the same address. The above Ovanes Kocharyan promised to clarify all the circumstances and correct the omissions.
