Karachay-Cherkessia marks 90th anniversary of KChAO formation and Unity Day

Today, the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) hosts celebrations dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Karachay-Cherkessian Autonomous Region (known as KChAO) and the Day of Unity of KChR nations. Because of the double holiday, July 6 was announced a day off.

In Cherkessk, the "Zelyony Ostrov" (Green Island) Recreation Park, which opened today after reconstruction, has already housed about three thousand guests and participants of the festival. Four topical areas have been opened for children - "Neptune's Feast", "Central Court", "Fairytale Town" and "Sporting Station".

In the morning they held the "Neptune's Feast", symbolizing the opening of the bathing season. Other events have been prepared, such as the performance of the show-ballet "Imperiya" (Empire) from Kislovodsk, Dance Festival "Friendship Round Dance", balloon festival and others.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Ganibal Korkmazov, Director of the Cherkessk City Municipal Unitarian Enterprise "Zelyony Ostrov" that a huge work was done to improve the territory of the park; in particular, according to his story, a large pond for bathing was completely cleared of mud and silt; and running water from the Kuban River was fed into the pond by a new canal.

The main events of the double holiday will begin in Cherkessk at 6:30 p.m. at the "Nart" Stadium, where, after an official opening ceremony, a concert will be staged for the residents and guests of the republic, featuring pop stars of Russia and North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) Dmitry Malikov and Sati Kazanova.
