Armenia sends 35 peacemakers to Kosovo

On July 6, a unit of 35 Armenia's peacemakers left for Kosovo.

The Armenian peacemakers will be stationed at the American base "Bondsteel" near the town of Urosevac. They will perform the peacemaking mission in the area of responsibility of the multinational grouping "East" on the basis of six-month rotation.

The responsibilities of the Armenian peacemakers will cover security of checkpoints, suppress of mass riots, crowd control, escort of patrols; they will also be responsible for the commandant's service, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.

Since 2004, Armenia has sent more than 600 peacemakers to Kosovo, the "Tert.am" reports.

  • Court denies compensation to KBR convict for HIV infection

    The Oktiabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk has dismissed Yuri Mikhailov's lawsuit for compensation for the fact that after staying in jails in Novorossiysk and in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), he was infected with HIV and hepatitis. This was reported by his advocate, Svetlana Toreeva.
