Georgia pardons 168 prisoners

On August 28, the Day of the Assumption of the Virgin, the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili pardoned 168 prisoners.

"None of those pardoned has to do with grave. All the 168 prisoners will be at large today," Khatuna Kalmakhelidze, Minister of Corrections, Probation and Legal Aid of Georgia, said at a briefing.

According to her story, there are a few women among those pardoned and no minors, the "News-Georgia" reports.

Earlier, the special commission for pardoning had given positive recommendations for 131 prisoners. Among them, there were 14 women and one minor, the PIC TV Channel reports.
