Member of Circassian community in Moscow holds picket to support compatriots in Syria
Today, Beslan Teuvazhev, an activist of the Circassian community of Moscow, held a solo picket in support of Syrian Circassians in front of the building of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The protest action took place without incidents, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Circassian activists hold pickets in Moscow starting from November 8, when they began receiving information from their compatriots from Syria about bombardment of Circassian villages of Berek and Bir al-Azham, located in the Golan Heights.
Beslan Teuvazhev stood with a poster reading: "Right to Homeland is Right to Life. We Demand Return of Our Compatriots to Russia." "Today, the picket was held quietly. None of the MFA's staff members approached me. Perhaps, because of the fact that today is a Saturday. However, I think that the MFA already got used to our pickets. We cannot stand idle, while our brothers die in Syria," Beslan Teuvazhev said.
Beslan Teuvazhev has added that he is not a member of any public organization or group. "Basically, all people, who on these days hold pickets in front of the MFA of the Russian Federation in support of compatriots in Syria, are ordinary people, the Circassians. And tomorrow, an unknown Circassian, who lives in Moscow, can come to the building of the MFA to hold a picket. This becomes a norm," Beslan Teuvazhev said.
Relatives of Beslan Teuvazhev, who used to live in Syria, managed to leave the hot spot, and at present, they are in Nalchik.
Larisa Khadipash, a Circassian activist, has reported that the pickets in support of Syrian Circassians will be held daily in front of the MFA of the Russian Federation. "Besides, we will submit a notification to hold a mass action in Moscow. We have real patriots, who are anxious about the situation in Syria," she has added.
