Poti seaport resumes work

This morning, the Poti port resumed its work, the new leaders of the enterprise managed to reach an agreement with the workers on strike. This was reported by Giorgy Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy.

According to Giorgy Kvirikashvili, starting from December 1, wages of the port workers will be raised by 20 percent. Originally, the strikers demanded to raise their wages by at least 40 percent.

"Besides, the leaders of the enterprise and the port workers managed to resolve issues on the duration of the working day, lunch, working conditions and other issues of the workers' anxiety," stated Giorgy Kvirikashvili on the air of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel.

The Minister has also reported that in the near future, the relationships between employers and workers will be discussed within the new Labour Code. In particular, the Georgian Government intends to revise the Labour Code in favour of employees.
