Taimuraz Mamsurov asks Kalmyk leader to protect North-Ossetian prisoners

Taimuraz Mamsurov, the leader of North Ossetia, appealed to Alexei Orlov, the leader of Kalmykia, with a request to ensure the investigation into the fact of violence in the territory of the penal colony "IK-1".

Let us remind you that relatives of convicted natives of North Ossetia, who serve their sentences at the penal colony "Salyn IK-1" in Kalmykia, have appealed to Taimuraz Mamsurov, the leader of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, asking to take emergency response measures with regard the current situation in the penitentiary institution and mass beating of prisoners.

In his letter, addressed to Alexei Orlov, the leader of North Ossetia also requests to provide "assistance in protecting lives and health of convicts from Ossetia," the "Club of the Regions" reports.

Taimuraz Mamsurov has also instructed the Ombudsperson in North Ossetia to control the situation at the penal colony "IK-1" and to provide the necessary legal assistance to relatives, who are worried about their family members, the "Elista.org" reports.

"The most important thing is to ensure an objective investigation into the facts of violence," stated Taimuraz Mamsurov in his "Twitter".
