About 50 take part in action "Kindergartens – to Children!" held in Vladikavkaz

Today, the capital of North Ossetia has hosted and action "Kindergartens – to Children!" where the participants – more than 50 local residents – demanded from the Russia's Ministry of Defence (MoD) to return the building of a former kindergarten back to the city.

The point is about the former kindergarten No. 73 at 16a Shmulevich Street. According to the protesters, the return of the building would provide room for about 400 children, while about 5500 kids are on the kindergarten waiting list in Vladikavkaz.

"I have two children; one of them is three years old. I tried to put him into a kindergarten, but I was told there were no vacancies. In our district Nos. 97 and 65 are overcrowded. I have to stay at home with my child, like over 100 other children in our district. Transporting them to other districts is also a problem. If they have a lot of free area in these premises, why not give it to children?" said Albina Kusova, a participant of the action.

A teacher Dzerassa Plieva, who also came to the protest action, said that she rears two children, aged three and five. None of them, as she said, goes to kindergarten.

"The problem is that kindergartens are overcrowded, even in other districts. We, specialists with higher education, are forced to stay at home, when there is a kindergarten beside, instead of going to work and do something good, at the end of all," she said.
