In Armenia, prisoner sewed up his mouth in protest
On November 16, Artak Abramyan, an inmate kept in "Nubarashen" prison in Armenia, sewed up his mouth and went on hunger strike, claiming harassment by colony personnel.
Artak Abramyan wrote in his application to the Ombudsman of Armenia that a "Nubarashen" employee displayed an attitude to him that discredited his honour and dignity.
After a conversation with the colony bosses, Artak Abramyan took away stitches from his mouth and temporarily stopped the hunger strike until his problems were addressed, the "Tert.am" reports.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Public Health of Armenia, Artak Abramyan stopped his hunger strike a few minutes after it started.
"On November 16, a mobile phone was found and confiscated from the repeatedly convicted Artak Abramyan, a prisoner of the 'Nubarashen'. Artak Abramyan went on hunger strike and sewed up his mouth. A couple of minutes later, he filed an application about termination of the hunger strike and asked to give the mobile phone to any of his relatives," the "Panorama.am" quotes the press service of the Ministry of Public Health of Armenia.
