New foreign airline enters Armenian aviation market

Starting from December 11, the Italian airline "Alitalia" will operate flights on the route Rome-Yerevan-Rome. The company lays stress upon the development of the Armenian-Italian economic relations and relations in the sphere of tourism. This was reported today at the press conference by Giovanni Simonini, Company's General Manager for Armenia.

According to Giovanni Simonini, flights of the "Alitalia" will be performed by an A320 aircraft from Rome to Yerevan twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and from Yerevan to Rome twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

"This is the beginning of our work in Armenia, and therefore, we intend to ensure the competitiveness of our company; thus, ticket prices will be reasonable," Giovanni Simonini said.

He has emphasized that the Italian side lays stress upon the development of bilateral economic relations and the development of relations in the sphere of tourism.

According to Bruno Scapini, Italian Ambassador to Armenia, who attended the press conference, at present, Italians are the most common tourists visiting Armenia from Europe.

At present, Armenia cooperates with foreign airlines representing Russia ("Aeroflot" and "Siberia"), Iran ("Iran-ASEMAN"), Austria ("Austrian Airlines"), and the Czech Republic ("Czech Airlines").
