Employees of "Kakheti Energy Distribution" go on strike
On Monday, November 19, in eastern Georgia, staff members of the service centre "Kakheti Energy Distribution" went on strike, demanding higher salaries and better working conditions.
About 50 staff members also demand to make use of weekends and annual leave, reduced working hours, improved conditions of health insurance and cover of travel expenses, provided by the law.
"We demand to raise salaries and create human conditions, since we have no idea about vacations and medical insurances. We demand to resolve those problems," the agency "News-Georgia" quotes a striking staff member of the company as saying, with referring to the "Information Centre of Kakheti".
If the demands of staff members of the power company are not met, they intend to continue the strike.
Representatives of the administration of the "Kakheti Energy Distribution" have reported that the power company undergoes bankruptcy procedure, and, therefore, at present, the demands of the strikers cannot be met. According to the administration, the situation can be changed only after the company gets a new owner, "Georgia Online" reports.
