Director of the school in Neftekumsk district of Stavropol region who prohibited wearing hijabs to the schoolgirls resigned

Director of the school in the settlement of Kara-Tiube, Neftekumsk district of Stavropol region, who prohibited wearing hijabs to the schoolgirls resigned, a representative of the Ministry of Education of Stavropol region reported. The decision of resignation is in no way connected with the incident with hijabs, ex-Director Marina Savchenko explained.

In the beginning of October several residents of the settlement of Kara-Tiube appealed to Public Prosecutor’s office stating that their daughters were not let into classes with hijabs. The villagers submitted a lawsuit against school No 12 to court and Public Prosecutor’s office started an inspection in the educational institution upon the results of which five employees were called to disciplinary account.

“The Director’s resignation is in no way connected with the incident with hijabs. She left her office for the reason of moving house”, “Interfax” quotes a representative of the regional Ministry of Education.

“I took this decision myself. Nobody brought pressure on me or drove me out, on the contrary, everyone was sorry about my resignation. And this in no way connected with the incident with hijabs”, Marina Savchenko said.

Earlier Marina Savchenko stated that she was receiving threats.

Svetlana Galustyan who earlier worked as a teacher of junior school became Director of the secondary school in Kara-Tiube instead of Savchenko, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” reports.
