KBSU to admit more than 100 students from Syria

This academic year, the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) will admit more than 100 students from Syria, whose tuition will be paid from the budget. This was announced today by Gumar Kirzhinov, Dean of the Department for Work with International Students of the KBSU.

At present, the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) train 351 foreign students, including 106 young persons from Syria.

Djadkar Sami, Chairman of the Syrian national groups in the KBSU, a 5th year student of the Department "Social and cultural service and tourism", said that he was happy about the decision of the KBSU administration on admission of students from Syria. "They are our brothers, our relatives. We are happy about that decision," he said.

According to him, in Syria, institutions of higher education continue to work; however, it is extremely dangerous to attend classes. According to Djadkar Sami, the KBSU students try to earn some money in their free time.

"Earlier, we were provided with assistance; at present, we get no assistance, and we are trying to earn money by ourselves," said Djadkar Sami. He has added that there are some students, who are "very much in need".

Several activists of the NGO "Peryt" collect donations for needy students. This was reported by Akhmed Stash, the leader of the NGO "Peryt". "At present, we speak only of food products; however, we also discuss the issue of financial assistance," Akhmed Stash said.
