Casualty of special operation identified in Dagestan

A man, who was killed today during the special operation in Makhachkala, was preliminary identified as Said Khiyasov, an active member of illegal armed formations (IAFs). This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Dagestan.

Today, a suspected militant was killed in the capital of Dagestan. According to the police, he was blocked in an apartment and he was offered to surrender; however, he refused and he was killed in a shootout.

"According to available information, Khiyasov was a member of subversive and terrorist groupings 'Makhachkala' and 'Kizilyurt'. A Kalashnikov submachine gun and ammunition to it were seized from the place," the Dagestani MIA reported.

According to the Dagestani MIA, after the shootout, one policeman, who got a gunshot wound of his right hand, was brought to the Republic's orthopaedic and trauma centre in Makhachkala, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.

The Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee in Dagestan has reported that a criminal case was instituted under Article 317 (attempt on life of a law enforcement agent) and Article 222 (arms traffic) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the "Interfax" reports.
