A soldier in Volgograd sentenced to 2,5 years of custody for torture on his colleagues

Volgograd garrison military court brought a verdict against soldier Shamil Belonos. He was sentenced to 2,5 years of custody in a penal colony settlement for torture on his colleagues.

In December of 2011 a criminal case was initiated against the soldier who was called up for service from Chechnya according to two clauses of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: “Fomentation of hatred on gender, race, ethnic and lingual grounds” and “Violation of statutory interrelationship among servicemen”.

The court established that the soldier beat up his colleague for the reason that the latter dodged stocking firewood. Several days later Belonos formed up five colleagues against the wall, aimed a Kalashnikov at them and took a photo of himself against the background. Later at night he woke up the servicemen, wrote by shaving foam on their backs “Chechnya-95”, “Chechnya” and “Armenia” and took photos. “Vysota 102.0” reports.

The first trial on the case passed off on October, 16, 2012. The defendant acknowledged himself guilty of non-statutory relationship but asked to dismiss the charge of interethnic discord. The information of the absence of such discord was confirmed by the sufferers, either. But the judge decided to bring a cumulative sentence on both clauses, “Block-note” reports.

The verdict on the case was brought on November, 16, however the information about it appeared only on November, 22, informational center SOVA reports.
