Fans of "Anji" FC claim mass detention of fans at football match in Moscow and beating by policemen

In the evening of November 22, detentions of fans of the Makhachkala "Anji" FC after the football match in Moscow with the Italian "Udinese" FC were carried out in a rude manner, and some of the detainees were beaten by policemen. This was reported by Ramazan Gaziev, the head of the "Dikaya Diviziya" (Wild Division) fan club of the "Anji" FC.

The meeting took place on the capital's stadium "Locomotive", and the game ended with score 2:0 in favour of the Dagestani football team. After the football match, 61 persons were detained for various administrative offences, the "Report" reports with reference to a representative of the Chief Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Moscow.

According to Ramazan Gaziev, about 70 persons were detained.

"They were brought to three nearby police stations. Policemen completed administrative protocols against all of them for using foul language. Many affected fans are going to challenge the police's actions at the Prosecutor's Office. The very match was held in great football atmosphere, and no other incidents occurred," Ramazan Gaziev stated.

According to him, at the football match, the fans of the "Anji" FC joined the global campaign to support the Palestinian people by posting in the 9th sector of the stadium a banner reading: "For Free Palestine". After that, several persons were at once detained. Other fans were detained after the football match.

"The fans, who came out from the 10th sector, were not involved in hanging the banner. Policemen started to indiscriminately detain the fans, and they tried to choose the fans in colourful clothing and symbols of the 'Anji' FC," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the leader of the Dagestani club as saying.
