Stavropol Territory: FSB officer accused of killing four in road accident

A criminal case was instituted against Maxim Svensky, the former officer of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB), who became responsible for a road traffic accident on the federal highway in the Stavropol Territory, which killed four persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that the road traffic accident occurred on November 4 on the 348th kilometre of the federal highway "Kavkaz". Four persons were killed in the collision of Honda and VAZ-2114 cars. The person, responsible for the road traffic accident, the driver of the foreign car, with multiple injuries was delivered to a hospital in Mineralnye Vody.

The person, responsible for the road traffic accident, was a FSB staff member, who was driving the car in the state of alcoholic intoxication. He has been already dismissed from the FSB, and the materials of the criminal case will soon be brought to the court, the "Interfax" reports with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.

Prior to his dismissal, 39-year-old Maxim Svensky was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and since 2007, he served under contract at the military unit No. 78705 under the jurisdiction of the FSB of the Stavropol Territory, working as the Deputy Chief. According to unconfirmed information, the local media were forbidden to highlight the circumstances of the road traffic accident, provoked by Maxim Svensky, and the relatives of the victims were subjected to psychological pressure, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
