"Heritage" joins ANC's initiative to apply to Constitutional Court

The faction "Armenian National Congress" (ANC) began collecting signatures in the Parliament under the claim to the Constitutional Court about the disruption of the parliamentary majority of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly of November 21. MPs from the faction of the "Heritage" Party supported the initiative.

At the press conference, held on November 30, Levon Zurabyan, the leader of the faction "ANC", has stated that the faction had already taken from the Secretariat of the National Assembly the appropriate form for the collection of signatures.

"We treat as unconstitutional step the fact of the disruption of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly of November 21, committed by the parliamentary majority, represented by the factions 'Republican Party of Armenia' and 'Rule of Law'," the MP has stressed.

He has expressed the hope that other opposition factions will join the ANC's initiative. At present, according to him, only the opposition faction "Heritage" has expressed a desire to join the claim to the Constitutional Court.

Earlier, MPs from the "Dashnaktsutyun", the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), stated that they did not intend to join the initiative and that they planned to file a complaint about the behaviour of the parliamentary majority to the Ethics Committee of the National Assembly.

To appeal to the Constitutional Court, 27 signatures of MPs are required. The fraction of the "ANC" consists of seven members, and the fraction "Heritage" of five members.
