Raffi Ovannisyan calls to sack election falsifiers in Armenia

Raffi Ovannisyan, a former presidential candidate and the leader of the oppositional party named "Heritage", has announced continuation of his struggle and called to dismiss those guilty of falsifying the election outcomes.

On February 18, Armenia voted for the president. The incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan won 861,373 votes, or 58.64 percent. His inauguration will take place on April 9.

Raffi Ovannisyan had rejected the election outcomes well before the announcement. According to the CEC, he was supported by 539,693 voters, or 36.75 percent. Now, the ex-candidate and his supporters would not accept the outcomes, stating that the election totals were falsified.

"On behalf of the nation we demand that all the election falsifiers ask pardon from the people and resign. This refers to all the governors. Our victory is in our hearts, brains and thoughts," Mr Ovannisyan has stated today in Yerevan at a rally that was up to 7000 strong.

Addressing the audience, he asked whether the people were ready for a long struggle, and received a positive answer.
