Burdzhanadze presents information about dispersal of rally on May 26, 2011
Investigators of the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia have questioned Nino Burdzhanadze, the ex-speaker of the parliament and the leader of the party "Democratic Movement – United Georgia" about the events of May 26, 2011. The interrogation lasted for six hours.
On May 21, 2011, a series of protest actions were initiated in Georgia with a demand of resignation of Mikhail Saakashvili, which ended on May 26, 2011, in a forced dispersal of the rally. According to human rights defenders, four persons died and over 300 were arrested.
"Burdzhanadze has withstood a many-hours talk with the investigator," the press service of the party "Georgia's Way" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Burdzhanadze recollects the events of May 26 as a punitive action. "It was a nicely organized and properly planned punitive action with casualties," the "Georgia Online" quotes Ms Burdzhanadze as saying.
According to her story, she gave the prosecutors a list of 30 persons ready to provide detailed information about the events on May 26.
