Stavropol Territory: court convicts on terror

Today, the Stavropol Territorial Court has finished announcing the verdict on the case of three locals accused of preparing and committing terror acts in Pyatigorsk and Stavropol. The terms of imprisonment requested by the accusation have been upheld.

The residents of the Neftekumsk District Anvarbek Amangaziev, Islamkhan Abdurakhmanov and Eldar Kaibaliev were accused of banditry, terrorism and attempts on life of law enforcers and other people. The court began considering the case on April 23, 2012. The suspects denied their guilt of the indicted crimes.

Depending of the role of each of them, all the suspects have been found guilty of the indicted crimes, including the terror act in Pyatigorsk in August 2010, when an explosion of an improvised explosion device (IED) hit 46 persons.

Amangaziev was sentenced to 25 years of deprivation of liberty and fine of 700,000 roubles; Abdurakhmanov – to 24 years behind bars and fine of 400,000 roubles, and Kaibaliev – to 22 years of imprisonment, the website "News of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF)" reports.

The party of the state prosecution was satisfied with the verdict, while the advocates of all the three have stated their intention to appeal against it, the "Interfax" Agency reports.
