"Social March" held in Rostov-on-Don

The "Social March" in Rostov-on-Don with a demand to decrease the utility tariffs was 20 persons strong.

The participants stood in a line, each with his or her poster. Most of them demanded to decrease the housing and utility tariffs: "Utility tariffs – under citizens' control!" and "No to tariff growth!" – such were the slogans of the protesters.

"My pension was not enough to pay the housing and utility bills – we had to cell our apartment and buy a smaller one," said Alexander Degtyaryov, a civil activist.

Other participants came to declare their ecological problems, in particular, felling city forests; commercialization of the education and medical spheres, low salaries and wages and violations of private company owners of the 8-hour-working-day legislation.

Before the "Social March", residents of Rostov-on-Don organized a so-called "Yamprobeg" (motor race over potholes) in the central city. They managed to reveal and fix some 30-35 potholes in central streets of the city. The data and photos will be sent to the GIBDD (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate).
