Double Olympic Champion from Armenia goes on hunger strike

Armen Nazaryan, a winner of the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000, has announced a hunger strike in protest against the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) not to recommend wrestling into the programme of the Olympiad-2020.

"Wrestling has ever been an Olympic sport; there's no way to take it out," Armen Nazaryan has explained his decision. He is going to continue his action till the European Championships to start on March 22 in Tbilisi.

"I hope that my protest will force the IOC to revise its decision," the "News Armenia" quotes Armen Nazaryan as saying.

In 1993-1997 Armen Nazaryan was an Armenian athlete, and since 1997 he competes for Bulgaria. He is a double Olympic Champion, three times World and six times European Champion, the "Hot Sport" reports.
