Onischenko: Russian experts reveal faults in operation of Georgia's wineries

The first stage of inspection of Georgia's wineries and mineral water factories by the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) is over; in total, 44 factories were inspected. According to Gennady Onischenko, the head of the above agency, there were some drawbacks revealed at the factories; however, they can be easily eliminated.

"These deficiencies are not only of private, but some systemic character; however, in experts' opinion, they are quite overcomable," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Onischenko as saying.

Levan Davitashvili, the head of the Georgia's National Wine Agency, said that the visit of Russian experts that ended on March 1 was successful. The quality management systems and sanitary conditions were inspected at forty wineries and four mineral water factories, including the famous "Borjomi".

As stated by Shalva Khetsuriani, the president of the Association of Georgian Sommeliers, along with Russian experts, Georgia was visited by employees of three companies-wine exporters; and they were in raptures from the quality of local products.

According to Grigory Karasin, the secretary of the head of the Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the efforts towards return of Georgian wine to Russia will continue. According to his version, the issues of softening the visa regime and restoration of regular air flights are also addressed, the "RIA Novosti" reports.
