Solo pickets against "Electrozink" Factory held in Vladikavkaz

Today, two solo pickets were held in Vladikavkaz against operation of the "Electrozink" Metallurgy Factory. The picketers were the sanitary doctor Atsamaz Khadikov and local resident Alan Alikov.

The pickets were organized in support of residents of Voronezh, who stand against nickel extraction by the Urals Mining-Metallurgy Company, whose daughter enterprise is the "Electrozink" Factory, said the picketer Alan Alikov.

"They addressed us for help, as they know that we have an enterprise that damages the environment a lot' and it is linked with that very company from the Voronezh Region," he said.

Such actions should continue; however, not towards stopping the factory, but towards making less emissions, Valery Lokhov, a resident of Vladikavkaz, who passed by one of the picketers, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"I felt emissions by myself, when by respiratory channels were blocked; and this was on the side of the 'Electrozink'. It's easiest to close the factory, but it's unreasonable. We should struggle for lower emissions," he shared his opinion.
