Court extends arrest of figurant in Politkovskaya's murder case till June 7
The Moscow City Court (MCC) has extended till July 7 the arrest of the ex-militiaman Sergey Khadjikurbanov, a figurant of the murder case of the journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya, said the press service of the MCC.
The court has upheld the opinion of the prosecutor and investigator who asked to extend the arrest to be able to acquaint all the case figurants with the materials of the investigation.
"Investigators plan to send the case together with the indictment to the prosecutor for subsequent transfer to the court not later than May," the RAPSI quotes the investigator as saying.
In the course of the session, the prosecutor said that the accusation of Khadjikurbanov is justified; and the case has plenty of proofs.
"Once the prosecutor says it, it's really the case. Listen to these honest people and extend the arrest," Khadjikurbanov said at the session.
In their turn, his advocates asked to release him from custody; however, now they do not plan to appeal against the ruling of the court, the "RIA Novosti" reports.
