Vardan Sedrakyan rejects the charge brought against him and refuses to evidence
Vardan Sedrakyan, ex-candidate for presidency of Armenia arrested for suspicion of organizing an attempt at candidate for presidency Paruir Airikyan during the election, refuses to evidence and is going to appeal against the charge brought against him in court, his attorney Alexander Sirunyan declared.
A charge according to clauses 38, 34 and 305 (“contracting an attempt of murder in order to cease the activities of a candidate for presidency”) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
His defense is going to achieve alteration of preventive punishment to him. Sirunyan considers the charge brought against his client groundless.
According to Arsen Babayan, Chief of Informational unit of Juridical Department, for the reason that the case is under the authority of National Security Service (NSS) and is currently at the stage of inquiry comments can be obtained only there. But Press Secretary of NSS Artsvin Bagramyan said that he could not comment on the issue.
