Ali Taziev's case to be considered by North-Caucasian Military Court
Today, the Russia's Supreme Court has upheld the decision to transfer the case of Ali Taziev, one of the top leaders of "Imarat Kavkaz" – the structure of the armed underground, to the North-Caucasian Military Court.
Ali Taziev occupied the second place in the hierarchy of "Imarat Kavkaz" after Dokku Umarov and was his deputy. He is charged with setting up and managing armed groupings, whose members committed a series of especially grave crimes, namely: the explosion of a passenger bus in Nevinnomyssk in December 2007; the explosion near the building of the Interior Division in Ingushetia in August 2009; and the attempt on the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov.
In the course of today's session it was decided to extend Ali Taziev's custody by three more months, that is, till June 9.
The jurisdiction was changed, as, in the opinion of law enforcers, there is a threat to life and health of the parties in the trial and their close relatives.
At the session, Taziev asked to cancel the decision about the transfer of the case to the Caucasus or direct the case to the Military Collegium of the Russia's Supreme Court. The defence party asked to consider a possibility of transferring the case to the Supreme Court of Ingushetia, claiming a possible bias and partiality of local judges, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
However, the court upheld the opinion of the prosecution: the state prosecutor said that the law forbids considering such cases at the Supreme Court, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
