Defence of Vardan Sedrakyan challenges his arrest at the Appellate Court of Armenia

The defence of the ex-presidential candidate Vardan Sedrakyan, arrested on suspicion of an attempt during the election on another presidential candidate Paruir Airikyan, has filed a complaint to the Court of Appeal against his arrest.

"The complaint has already been submitted to the court," the advocate Alexander Sirunyan said on March 7 without specifying any further actions to be taken by Sedrakyan's defence.

However, he explained that various complaints and petitions were in process, the "News-Armenia" reports.

In his turn, Paruir Airikyan refused to comment on Sedrakyan's arrest on charges of an attempt on his life. "Currently, Paruir Airikyan has increased pain in his forearm, where he was wounded in the attempt," said Vrezh Zatikyan, an assistant to Airikyan.

According to Mr Zatikyan, the former presidential candidate thinks only about his speedy recovery and does not intend to comment on the arrest of Sedrakyan, the "ArmInfo" reports.
