Ataman of Mingrelskaya killed in Krasnodar Territory
In the evening on March 7, in the village of Mingrelskaya, the Abinsk District of the Krasnodar Territory, an armed conflict burst out, resulting in the death of the village ataman Sergey Osminin, and another Cossack injured his leg, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"A resident of Mingrelskaya, being intoxicated with alcohol, attacked his wife; she called the police. When policemen arrived, the man locked himself in the house, holding his wife," Ivan Sengerov, Senior Assistant to the Head of the Investigatory Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian federation (ICRF), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The policemen, accompanied by two members of the Cossack society, tried to open the door; but at that moment the man began firing through the door, wounding one Cossack in the leg, and hitting the 34-year-old ataman Sergey Osminin in the head, said Sengerov. Ataman died from his wounds.
The incident was also recounted by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachov in his microblog: "Sergey Osminin was respected all over Mingrelskaya. His two children are now orphans. The ataman's funeral will take place tomorrow. I address my condolences to his family and friends."
