Victim of flooding in Derbent claims he cannot get compensation for mistake of local authorities

Kakhriman Shikhgasanov, who suffered from the flooding in Derbent, states that because of negligence of local officials he cannot get his due compensation.

As he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, his house was almost completely destroyed during the flood; however, he was not put on the list of those who wait for their housing certificates.

"I strongly disagree with this decision. My house is destroyed; it got immersed into the ground by 1.5-2 meters. My yard and my garden are under the same thick layer of earth and debris; all my property is lost. Besides, we still can't recover from the shock. My wife, who was at home at the time of the flood, is in severe depression; she has to use the services of psychologists," said Kakhriman Shikhgasanov.

According to his story, the fact that he was not put on the list of those who had lost all the possessions, and his name is not on the register of those who have to get housing certificates was a result of negligence of local officials. Someone made a mistake when filling in the documents and indicated the address, to which Shikhgasanov family has no attitude.

Administration officials of Derbent do not comment the victim's claims.
