Kudepsta residents block KAMAZ trucks at supposed HPP construction site

The entrance to the territory of the intended construction site of the Kudepsta Heat and Power Plant (HPP) of three KAMAZ trucks with building materials has caused massive protests of local residents who demand to stop any attempt to start building the hazadrous, in their opinion, object.

"On March 9, about 1:00 p.m., a petrol tanker and three KAMAZ trucks with reinforcement bars broke to the place of the intended construction of the HPP," Igor Vasiliev, the head of the Territorial Self-Government (known as TOS) "Kudepsta" and an assistant of Sergey Obukhov, a State Duma Deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Vladimir Ivanov, a resident of Kudepsta, who was at that moment on duty at the protesters' camp, said that he immediately called local residents to the place of the incident. "Already in 5 minutes, about 50 people were standing on the bridge blocking two KAMAZ trucks. One managed to escape," said Vladimir Ivanov.

"Believing that after two negative opinions of state examination, the developers of the Kudepsta HPP won't dare to start building without a permit, we have weakened the public control. As a result, at night on March 8 private security guards dragged the stones away from the bridge and cleared the way for heavy machinery, which moved today with the cargo," said Vladimir Ivanov.

So far, there are no comments from the officials of the LLC "Kudepsta HPP-GazEnergoStroy" in connection with the incident.
