Ex-presidential candidate Andreas Gukasyan lodges two petitions to Armenia's CC

Today, at the Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia, which hears the case on non-recognition of the results of the presidential election, a former candidate Andreas Gukasyan has demanded to remove the representatives of the incumbent president and to involve the president himself in the process.

The incumbent Serzh Sargsyan asked to attract his representatives as the third party; therefore, his interests were presented by the Minister of Justice Grair Tovmasyan and David Arutyunyan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for State and Legal Issues.

At the session, Andreas Gukasyan has noted that the interests of the former presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan are protected by the Armenian Minister of Justice, who is a state official, but has appeared at the court as an ordinary citizen. To this the minister answered saying that from today and till the end of the hearing as stipulated by the legislation he is on leave. The court dismissed the petition lodged by Ghukasyan.

The CC members Kim Balayan, Felix Tokhyan and Ashot Khachatryan have been appointed speakers on this case; while the CEC (Central Election Commission) is the respondent in the persons of Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan, Secretary Armen Smbatyan and the lawyer Nune Ovannisyan.

The Chairman of the CC Gagik Arutyunyan has decided to continue the hearing of the case on March 12.
